OVERVIEW
Bruce is a towering Kraggonian pirate crimelord whose name carries weight throughout the Outer Rim. Built like a living siege engine, he combines immense physical strength, naturally fortified skin, and battlefield instincts sharpened through years of raids, boarding actions, and underworld conflict. He leads his Break Crew through a mixture of intimidation, loyalty, and undeniable results, preferring to stand at the front of a fight rather than issue orders from a safe distance. His reinforced armor, customized firearms, and glowing cleaver blade reflect both Kraggonian industrial heritage and Bruce’s belief that every weapon should make a statement before it is ever used.
Despite his fearsome reputation, Bruce is far more colorful than the typical pirate warlord. He speaks in exaggerated street slang, carries himself like an old-school rap kingpin, and treats nearly every confrontation like a battle for respect. His theatrical swagger often makes him unintentionally hilarious, especially when his temper collides with Captain Silver’s recklessness. Bruce is also romantically involved with Vexa, whose confidence and independence are among the few things capable of keeping his ego in check. He may claim that nobody controls him, but when Vexa gives him a look, even the most dangerous Kraggonian in the sector knows when to lower his voice.
BACKGROUND
Bruce was born aboard a heavily modified mining vessel operated by a powerful Kraggonian Break Crew descended from the original rebels of Krag. From childhood, he was taught that freedom had to be defended through strength and that weakness invited chains. He began working with industrial machinery at an early age, learning to repair drilling equipment, reinforce hull plating, and transform mining tools into devastating weapons. His rise within the crew began during a failed boarding raid when he seized command after the former leader froze under pressure. Bruce rallied the surviving pirates, breached the enemy vessel’s armored bridge, and personally dragged the captured ship back to Kraggonian territory.
During later raids, Bruce discovered archives containing preserved music and entertainment from ancient Earth. He became fascinated with old-school hip-hop and gangster rap, particularly its themes of defiance, survival, reputation, wealth, and resistance against authority. Although he understood only fragments of the original cultural context, Bruce adopted the sound, language, and larger-than-life attitude as his own personal philosophy. Over time, his crew began imitating his slang, while Bruce styled himself as an interstellar “boss” whose reputation had to be protected at all costs.
PERSONALITY
Bruce is loud, prideful, confrontational, and almost incapable of entering a room quietly. He speaks in rap-inspired slang, refers to his crew as his people, and constantly reminds others that he is the most dangerous individual present. He thrives on spectacle and enjoys making grand entrances, delivering threats, and displaying his weapons even when a normal conversation would be more practical. Bruce possesses an explosive temper, particularly when he feels disrespected, but his aggression is rarely mindless. Beneath the theatrics is an experienced commander who carefully watches body language, identifies weakness, and understands when intimidation will accomplish more than violence.
His harsh exterior hides a fierce loyalty toward those he considers family. Bruce will insult, threaten, and argue with his crew, but he will not abandon them, sell them into servitude, or tolerate anyone treating them as disposable. His hatred of slavery and forced control is absolute, rooted in the collective history of his species.
